The first 3 pictures show the Greenland icecap (actually a continental glacier) nearly covering the mountains. Farther west, nearer the coast, valley glaciers flow off the icecap. Some can be seen merging to form still larger glaciers. Finally, at the coast, the glaciers reach a point in the fjiords where the water is deep and the ice tends to float and break off, forming icebergs.
